Question 1: How did you make your predictions?

Answer: I made myy predictions by using of what I already know. For example to light a light-bulb you have to have a wire and a battery. And you have to connect one end of the wire touching the other end.

Question 2: Did any of the results suprise you?

Answer: None of the predictions suprised me because I knew all of my predictions would work.

Question 3: Why did "e" not work?

Answer: It didn't work because, some people got different answers.

Question 4: Why did people get different answers for "c"?

Answer:Some people got different answers because some groups had batterys with no plastic.

How did I make my prediction?
I made my predictions by some things I already knew like when I was 4 I got a circuit kit, then I learned about circuits. Also I knew that a light bulb had certain spots that had to be touched,the same with the battery. Did any of the results surprise me?
No:because I experimented along time ago and that knowledge is still with me. Also I knew just by looking at it.
E didn't work because the wires were touching one side of the battery, if the wires were touching both end of the battery it would work.

Thomas Edison

Thomas was not a good student. He had a lot of questions. When he grow up he wanted to answer his on questions. So he did. Back then people used gaslights for light. Thomas wondered if there was another way to use light. He used a lot of knowledge to figure things out. He used science to figure it out. He used materials to build the answer.
Finally he invented a light bulb. Thanks to Edison he built us a light bulb.

You know that trip you want to go on? Well don't it was horrible,here I'well tell you the story. I went through the posative side and I was thinking it was realaxing. But then someone opened the switch,I looked behined me than CRASH!,all of a sudden that person closed the switch again,I saw in front of me a black thing,I than found myself spining around and around intill I finally came out of the bulb. So then I went all over again.Never do this, EVER!

My Awesome Journey

Dear Mr.Conductor,
You cant believe where i was last night. Well i'm just to exited to tell you. Okay i was in a circuit! Can you believe that! Guess what i went through a battery, light bulb even a paperclip,and to fastners. That was awesome! That's not the rest. Did you know an open circuit is not a complete because the electricity cant make it through, and a closed circuit is a complete circuit. It's a full circuit so the electricity cant come through. You see the switch(paperclip) is metal any thing that's electricity can go through metal. So if you move the switch it stops the electricity
from coming through. So you see that's how electricity
works, and how i traveled my awesome journey.

1. Using my knolege of where things need to go, I breezed through this light bulb stuff. The light bulb needs to be touching somthing on the bottom and the silver side. The battery, top and bottom. On E andF, I used my knolege of ciricts. On E, the motor isn't plugged into the positive AND the negetive. EASY.

2. None of the the rusults surprised me. I got them all correct!

3. C only worked for like two groups. The batteries that had the plastic covering did not work. The plastic served as an inslator.

4. E did not work for anyone. For it to work, the motor wires would need to be connected to both the positive and negetive parts parts of the battery.

Dear Open Circuit,
I just had the best time of my life! I just went to Circuit world. In Circuit world I went on a closed-circuir-coaster. On the cloesd-circuit-coaster, it went around in a circle all the way to the negative and positive side of the battery! Circuit world was way better than Switch world we went to last year, because at Switch world the ride would always turn off and then the ride would stop and have an incomplete circuit. At Circuit world the ride never stops because it's a complete circuit! Next year you totally need to come to Circuit world with me!

-What was Thomas Edison like as a kid?

All of Edison's teachers thought he was the worst student in the class and he would not be successful in life, but they were very wrong. Edison once became a great inventor. Though he asked many questions and did many things in his own way that were wrong he became a great person.



-How did Thomas Edison "Do Science?"

Edison did science by finding lots of information. He filled hundreds of notebooks with records of his experiments. If one of his experiments didn't work he would get new materials to try to make it work.

Dear Sparky,

Remember when we were stuck in that filament?
Well guess what I got to go through a whole circuit!
It was awesome. First, we were all pent up in the battery,but when someone
closed the circuit we all zoomed out the positive side of the battery.
Then, we went through a long wire to a switch ,but when we got to the there someone opened the circuit. It was incomplete. Then, suddenly it was complete again. we raced through the filament , and zoomed through the negative side of the battery. The only bad part was when there was insulator and no conductor. Still it was awesome

Hi Lighter,

Do you remember when we were in his-circuitry class together and we learned how we were created? If you don't we're created when two wires are hooked up to a positive and a negative side of energy on a battery. then the two wires are connected to a light bulb or a motor. That creates a closed or complete circuit. If there's no positive or negative energy, or the wires are not connected to the light bulb or the motor, then it is called an open or incomplete circuit. Anyway, you have a new cousin! I went down to the circuit making factory and went to our column, and I saw that our wires were hooked up, and all of a sudden, a new circuit appeared named Wirere. Maybe you could come and meet him some time.

Hi!Can you see the picture of me in Closed Circuit World?I'm having the best time here. We went on this cool ride called the Switch. We started in an open circuit then it closed up right when we were about to fall. Than we rode through the negative side of the battery. We shot out of the positve side of the battery and made our way to the light bulb. We went up and down the filament and through the bulb. We landed in the insulator than out the conductor and found ourselvs at the end of the ride! I would like to see you soon back at Electricty Town! We could grab a cup of mochastatic soon. Love you!

Dear Ms. Positive and Mr.Negative,

O.K. this was probably the worst part of my trip. I was going around and around for a billion hours and it was driving me NUTO!!!! Going around and around in a swich was fun for about three seconds. Finally, we came to a complete stop! Then, a giant monster chased us out of the open circuit. Next, I saw I was in a whole different state! I found myself traveling again through lots of wires. Now, I am stuck in Lendon( I think) In a lamp post, wich is really dizzy. I hope YOUR having fun.

The third and fourth grades recently wrote postcards to demonstrate their understanding of electricity, circuits and switches.  Their task was to write a postcard from the perspective of electricity, writing to their electricity cousins about traveling through a circuit.  They were also challenged to use vocabulary that they learned in this unit:  circuit, open,complete, closed, incomplete, positive, negative, switch, insulator,conductor.

We read about Thomas Edison and the process he went through in improving the lightbulb.  What are some of the ways that Thomas Edison was engaging in the scientific process.  How was he "Doing Science"?

1.  How did you make your predictions?

2.  When you tested the circuits, did any of the results surprise you?

3.  Why did letter "E" not work?  This was the picture that had the motor with both wires touching one end of the battery (either the positive or negative side.)

4.  Why did people get different results for "C"?  Letter "C" had the picture with wires going from the bulb, but one wire was going to the positive side of the battery and the other wire was touching the SIDE of the battery.

I have lost my school picture at school and i was wondering if anyone has seen it. last time i saw it it was on the back counter close to Mr. lewis' desk. I lost it on school picture day. If anyone has seen it please tell me. M.J.

Winter Break

I just left Denver yesterday and I am now in El Paso, TX and I am visiting the cutest baby ever my cousin Eloise who is just 4 months old and I've never seen her before. She is very cute and her smile is adorable. She has not grown teeth yet but she likes to bite on her hands. I hope to see you guys when we return from winter break in January 2011. Four mile fire

Firefighters fight alot of land fires. Six-thousand acres of land got destroyed. Trees, grass,and houses got destroyed. There was alot of different kinds of firefighters. After the fire, the ground was black. And that is what they do on land.
