Will It Work?? Experiment Results

1.  How did you make your predictions?

2.  When you tested the circuits, did any of the results surprise you?

3.  Why did letter "E" not work?  This was the picture that had the motor with both wires touching one end of the battery (either the positive or negative side.)

4.  Why did people get different results for "C"?  Letter "C" had the picture with wires going from the bulb, but one wire was going to the positive side of the battery and the other wire was touching the SIDE of the battery.

  1. 1. I made my predictions by using my background knowledge. Most of the pictures I had already experienced,so I knew if it would work or not. For some of them I used my knowledge about electricity. For example, on letter E I knew it was wrong because to make a complete circuit you need to have contact on both the negative and positive side of the battery.

2.None of the results surprised me because most of the pictures I had already experienced. The only ones I had not experienced are C and E. For C I knew it was wrong because the wire connected to the side. The side of the battery has plastic on it,and plastic is an insulator which means it blocks electricity,so it cannot work. For E I knew it was wrong because there was not an even amount of positive and negative electricity, so it could not make a complete circuit.

3.Letter E did not work because it did not have contact on the negative and positive side of the battery. It only had contact on one of the sides.Without an even amount of positive and negative energy you have an incomplete circuit,so letter E could not work.

4.People got different results for C because some of the batteries did not have plastic on the sides. Instead, they had metal. Plastic is an insulator which blocks electricity, and metal is a conductor which is something that can lead electricity. For the people with plastic it did not work, but for the people with metal it did.

  2. how did you make your predictons?

I looked for all the contacks that are; negitive and positive flow that have a conducter. Once the circuit works you have a closed circuit if it does not work it is open.

  3. 1. How did you make your predictions?
I made my predictions by my experience. Outside of school I go to an electronics class. There I learned about + and -, filaments, circuits, and snap kits.

2.Did any of the results surprise you? Why? Why not?
Yes! on the letter C some of the batteries worked and some didn't. The ones that worked had no plastic so it was metal and it had a charge. The ones that did not work had plastic onit and had no charge.

    3. Use science language to explain why

no I was not wrong. I looked at the flow and saw if the flow was right. I was not suprized.

e did not work because it did not have negitive and positive flow it just hade negittive flow.

the pictures, and seeing which ones were
open on those ones I put no.then,I looked at the remaining ones to see if they were connected to the contacts if not I put no if they were I put yes

  9. why did c get differnt results?

because some battrys had plastick that surved as a insolater.

E didn't work because it was only connected to positive, and to make a loop or closed circuit it needed to be connected to both negative and positive.

YES!E surprised me because i predicted that E will work and it did work.

plastic is an insulator so it didn't light, but for some people it did because their was no plastic on their battery so it was just metal and it made a complete circuit.

  15. 1. I made my predictions by looking at the picturs and I wrote yes or no because I tried the circut set-ups and I knew if they were not always right.

    2. None of the results surprized me because I all ready tried them.

    3. "E" did not work because the wires only touched the positive or the negative.

    4. People got different results for "C" because some batterys had the insolator off.

  16. 1 how did you make your predictions?

I made my predictions by my experience because some of the experiments we did I had already done.

2 when you tested the circuits did any of the results surprise you?

None of the results surprised me because I did most of the things that we did in our electricity unit at my house so I knew what was coming.

3 Why did letter E not work?

E did not work because both wires need to be hooked up to the sides (negative and positive)
the wires cant make contact if one side is not touching then the circuit wont work.

4 Why did people get different results for letter c?

People got different results for C because one battery had no paper on the sides. The battery is all metal so the wires can make contact with the battery so the circuit can work.

  18. Will It Work-Predictions

Question #1: How did you make your predictions?
Answer #1: I made my predictions by knowing that I have already expierenced the expierements, so I know if they worked or not. The way I knew to say no was by knowing that I haven't done the expierements.

Question #2: Did any of the results suprise you? Why? or Why not?
Answer#2: Expierement "e" suprised me because my science group tryed it and it didn't work. Then we tryed it with a unwrapped battery and it worked.

Question #3: Use science language to explain why "E" did not work.
Answer #3: "E" did not work because the wires were not connecting to the positive and the negative side of the battery.

Question #4: Why did people get different results for "C"?
Answer #4: People got different results for "C" because a lot of the batteries were insulated. the ones that weren't insulated worked. The one that were insulated did not work.

  22. Will It Work perdicions... 1. I made my perdictions by looking at the pictures of the circuits. I said NO to the ones that looked like open circuits and I said YES to the ones that looked like closed circuits. 2. None of the results suprised me because I knew that some of them would be confusing. I knew what an open circit was ans what a closed circuit was. 3. "E" did not work because both of the wires wre on the positive side, and it did not make a complete circuit because a complete circuit needs to have one wire on the positive side and the other wire on the negitive side. 4. People got different results for "C" because some people had a D battery that was an insolator, and some people had a D battery that had an conducter. Thats why It did not work for SOME people. M.J.

  25. Will It Work-Predictions

Question #1: How did you make your predictions?
Answer #1: I made my predictions by looking at the pictures and using my memory of these worked or if they didn't.

Answer #2: Letter "C" surprised me because we tried it and the first time it didn't work, but the second time Mr. Lewis did it it worked.

Answer #3: "E" did not work because when the battery and the wire does not connect with electricity none of it worked.

Answer #4: Why people got different results were because some of the batteries were different and some were not. So some lightbulbs light and some did not.

Question #5: How were the batteries different?
Answer #5: They were different because some had plastic and some didn't.

cicuit e didn't work because it was an open circuit and all contacts were not touching.

One wire is touching the side of the battery and the plastic covering on the battery forms an insulator. TK

    I made my prediction by...
looking at the experaments that we all ready did. Like the one that had the wiretouching the posative side of the battery then the other side of the wire touching the bottem of the light bulb.

    2. Did any of the results suprise you? Why? Why not?
No! Because I know that all of the experaments have to have a posative and negative flow . If they don't the light bulb won't light

    3. Use science languege to explaine why ''E'' did not work.
''E'' did not work because ''E''did not have a posative and negative flow it just had a posative flow so the light bulb did not work.

    4. Why did people get different resaults for ''c''?
well some of the batterys had a insolater A.K.A the plastic cover over the battery, and some of the batterys we had did not have a plastic cover over it.

One of them surprised me. It was letter C because on the battery that had plastic did not light up, but the ones that didn't have plastic did light up. That surprised me a lot.

Use science language to explain why "E" did not work.

It was a closed circuit because one of the wires did not touch the sides of the battery, so it was an incomplete circuit.
