Tallest Buildings


What is the tallest building in the U.S.?  How tall is it?  Our Student Reference Guide says it is the Empire State Building, but I don't think they are right...


What is the tallest building the world?  How tall is it?  The Student Reference Guide says it is the Taipei 101.  Are they right?

Our Changing Earth

Parents: Third and fourth grade scientists have been learning about our "Changing Earth".  This week, we took much of what we have learned to study the erosion of Niagara Falls.

Third and Fourth Grade Scientists:  This week our question was:  Will Niagara Falls be around in 20 years?  Will they be around in 100 years?  If so, how long will it take for the falls to erode back to Lake Erie?  Please answer this question and explain the process you went through to find out. Third Grade Mathematicians


We just completed unit 2 and the third graders worked on an artifact to put in their portfolios to demonstrate their learning of a math concept in unit 2.
Third graders, please write me a comment and answer the following questions:


  1. What is your portfolio item?  Describe it in detail.  
  2. What math did you have to do?  How does this show that you know how to add and subtract whole numbers?
  3. What do you think of your work?  Would you do anything different next time?



Do your best with your work.  Be a good mathematician and explain all of your thinking.
