Third graders, please write me a comment and answer the following questions:
- What is your portfolio item? Describe it in detail.
- What math did you have to do? How does this show that you know how to add and subtract whole numbers?
- What do you think of your work? Would you do anything different next time?
Here is an example of a really good response:
ReplyDeleteThe portfolio product that I completed for unit 2 was Frames and Arrows. I figured out the frames and arrows by first looking at the rule which was + 100. Then I filled all the answers to the right first by adding 100 to each number. Then I subtracted 100 to fill in the answers that went to the left. This was really good practice on adding and subtracting large numbers. I think my work is good. I sometimes have a hard time finding the rule when it is missing from a frames and arrows problem.
Here's my comment about my awesome math work. By the way, I am a genius.

My portfolio product is In Out boxes.I learned that you can put a math problem in your head with in out boxes by taking the in number and taking the rule number and put it right next to it and then you will have the answer which is the out number. Yes, I am happy with my final product, I did the strategy of using what I already know. I will use a different strategy and maybe I will do it better.

ReplyDeleteLC
NS I love your work
ReplyDeleteMy portfolio product is Addition and subtraction puzzles. It is very tricky. There are numbers that have to equal something and there were two bars that said ADD and SUBTRACT. I learned about addition and subtraction puzzles. That you had to do problems that had to equal something with both addition and subtraction. I am happy with this portfolio product because you do something with addition and subtraction. Next time I will try to do something more challenging and harder. I did well on this because there was a tricky problem on number 3. There were two number that were tricky but I got it right because the problem was 95-40 but 95-40 was backwards so I figured out the answer was 55.
