Why do gerbils need exercise?

Gerbils need exercise because it is fun for them and it will keep it healthy without them knowing.

    Does Zeus run in the wheel all day long? How much exercise does he need? Our hamster is nocturnal so it runs 4-5 hours during the night!!! - VB

    Maybe you could do an experiment if Zeus would exercise when it was quiet around.
