Earthquake in Chile Questions

Third and fourth grade students are investigating the recent earthquake in Chile. Researchers begin studying a topic by activating thier schema, and then they ask questions. We are practicing asking thick questions to structure our research. After looking at a lot of non-fiction information about Chile and the earthquake today what thick questions do you have?

  6. I have a connection to te Chile earthquake.When i was in Florida a very small earthquake in the ocean.So every body went in side a massive bar tent.But after all it was ok.

  17. How did the earthquake move a whole city to the west at least ten feet? U.S.G.S found a boy and a man on the streats dead, how did they know the boy was 5 and the man was 58? How did one compeney know there was gong to be an earthquake?

One question I still have is did the earthquake also break through the earths plates that make the continents move, to make the world go a little bit faster?And, if it hit the plates in between South America and Centril America i am wondering if that made them go an inch more apart then they were supposed to?
